WAxit Party condemns Prime Minister’s support for Lithium battery manufacture in NSW.

The WAxit Party has condemned Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s strong support for a proposed lithium battery plant in NSW as evidence of the Federal Government’s continuing belief that Western Australia will never amount to anything more than a quarry.

The Prime Minister was speaking on Thursday at the launch of Energy Renaissance’s $70 million lithium battery manufacturing facility, which is to be constructed at Tomago in the Hunter Valley region of NSW.

WAxit Party spokesman Mr. Russell Sewell said that the Prime Minister’s overt support for this project is evidence that his government has no interest in seeing value added to Western Australia’s mineral resources occurring within Western Australia.

“The Prime Minister must be aware that each and every one of Australia’s 21 lithium mineral deposits are located in Western Australia,” Mr. Sewell said. “Why would he not want to throw his strong support into establishing this project in WA,” he asked?

The WAxit Party is contesting the State Election on a platform of separating Western Australia from the Australian Federation. A key element of the party’s platform is to develop the economy of the State by adding value to the State’s mineral resources locally.

“The Prime Minister is insulting Western Australians in the middle of an important election,” Mr. Sewell said. “The WA Liberal’s, and lately even the Labor Party, are agreeing with WAxit Party that further processing and value-adding should be done in this State,” he said. “The silence of this State’s Liberal and Labor leaders on this announcement is a further indication that the major parties on WA will toe the line in accordance with the wishes of their masters in Canberra,” Mr. Sewell said.

The WAxit Party is promoting the economic and social benefits to Western Australia of resigning from the Federation and has received a considerable groundswell of support since launching its election campaign.
